Graduate Students and Obama

Finally, I have set a date for my Master's thesis defense. So, I have more free time to do some stuffs I enjoyed. To kick start my blog writing again, I want to share a joke with you all. This is going to be a short post.

Let start the joke with a question. There is a common number that arises during the end of Obama's first presidential term and when a graduate student tries to graduate. What number is that?

Blog Writers Wanted

My apologies for not being able to write for this week. As my graduation approaches, I am getting busier. This will mean less time for me to write for this blog and to generate content for it. Also, I will be starting my new job in The MathWorks in late October, this will mean that less time for me to write after I graduate. In consideration of these two situations, I am hoping to find someone (or even better a group of people) to take over this blog.

Setting Up Latex in Windows

For those who are going to start grad school soon, knowing how to use Latex will help you a lot with writing in the long run. If you use mathematics a lot, Latex is great for typing mathematics. If you don't, Latex is still great for document referencing and citation management. However, setting up Latex is not as straight forward as Microsoft Words. So, in this post, I am documenting the steps to setup Latex in Windows.

Research Ethics

Whether in life, work or research, never weight ethics less than air.
Just a few more weeks to go and I will be officially done with my Master's thesis (hopefully). I have been wondering what to write for the whole weekend and couldn't think of any good ideas. Then, I realized I have not cover an important topic - ethics in research. When I just got into grad school, we had a seminar on research ethics. Like most grad students, I started to yawn and wanted to walk away. But after being in research for almost one and half year, I have truly understood why it is important. I would like to share some thoughts with you here.

So, in this post, I am going to share 2 advices with you.
