Lemma, Proposition, Theorem and Corollary

 If you read a lot of papers in control theory, then you have probably come across the following words: (a) Lemma, (b) Theorem, (c) Corollary and (d) Proposition. These are terms that are used a lot in articles that uses mathematics a lot. When I first saw these terms, I had no idea what they meant which makes me miserable whenever a read a paper. However, once you understand these terms, it will allow you to understand a paper much more easier. So, I decided to write a post to explain what these terms means and how to read and write them in a paper.

Preparing for Control Theory

With almost 2 years of experience in control theory, I would say that control theory is definite a tough area to work when you compare to other field of engineering. If you follow my blog, you might me complaining about control theory sometimes because sometimes it is troublesome for engineers prove various small details. Math, Control Theory and Two Issues

For those who read my blog a couple of times, most of you would realized that I am currently in the field of control theory. Control theory is one of those fields that requires a lot of mathematics. I have been in the field for roughly 2 years now and I have realized that they are 2 big issues within control theory, namely: (i) identity of a control engineer/theorist, and (ii) stagnation of fundamental theory advancements. In this post, I would like to relate mathematics to the above issues and perhaps generate some discussions.

Cool MATLAB Simulation for Modern Control Teaching

 I have been a teaching assistant for three terms during my studies as an MASc student in University of Toronto. One of the problems with current teaching of control teaching is it is too math intensive. Often students are thrown with a bunch of formulas and theorem. If they don't have much experience with real life control problems, it will be very have for them to connect real life application and the theory that are taught to them.
